For nearly 200 years, Windward has hosted weddings and celebrations for residents of Shepherdstown. The circa 1834 historic farmhouse makes for a fantastic preparation space, with it’s elegantly appointed formal living room and it’s dark and moody flora and fauna dining space perfect for a wedding party luncheon. All weddings take place outdoors with or without a tent to provide coverage, and we have a team of recommended vendors to help you with every step along the way. All of our couples that have taken their nuptial vows at Windward have been the type of people to enjoy the outdoors and appreciate a farmscape; A duck may wander through your reception and a rooster may crow, but we find these happenings to make the event even more special; We hope you do too.
No; All of our weddings are held outdoors with or without a tent.
There is no minimum! We specialize in curating celebrations for intimate groups, and our farm is best suited for weddings under 100 guests.
We offer complete venue coordination of all wedding related events at Windward. For an additional cost we can perform wedding coordination and our on site flower business Windward Blooms would be delighted to provide your wedding florals.
Yes! You can rent out the main floor of the historic Windward home (also known as the James Marshall Byron Home) for an additional fee. We also have a separate outdoor event space called “The Bin” which makes a fantastic grooms lounge if we aren’t using it for the wedding itself.
